Check the seated hem
Try sitting and taking a full step before deciding short length. Check waistband and pocket bulk with what you carry. A hem that feels fine standing can shift substantially seated; choose your preferred coverage without a rule about age or body size.
Add a deliberate top role
A loose collared shirt gives tailored shorts a more defined top; a plain tee and removable hoodie make sports shorts an explicitly casual outfit. Keep the top weight suited to your actual heat and room conditions, with sleeves rolled only by preference.
Footwear changes the context
Flat sandals can suit a dry informal warm day. Trainers support a casual active silhouette when appropriate to your activity. Workplace and venue guidance decide whether shorts are acceptable; a smart collar does not override a no-shorts code.
Swimwear is a separate route
A linen shirt over swim shorts can be useful for the dry walk to the water, subject to local rules. It does not make swimwear correct for every resort dining room. Keep the water activity and dry city outfit distinct, and add your actual equipment to a trip checklist.
Prefer a long hem?
Use lightweight straight or wide trousers with the same top and familiar flat shoe. Warm weather does not require bare legs. Check real fabric weight and opacity; a fibre name alone does not promise comfort or protective performance.
